Day
1 Depart Canada. Overnight flight to Rome.
Day
2 Arrive Rome. We will be met at the airport and be transferred
to our hotel. The rest of the day is ours to begin our exploration
of the 'Eternal City'. (D- Dinner at the hotel is included)

3 Rome sightseeing. In the morning we will tour the world famous
Vatican Museum including the Sistine Chapel and then to St. Peter's
Basilica. Our afternoon sightseeing tour shows us the Forum and
Coliseum. Later you'll have the opportunity to explore other parts
of historical Rome or perhaps, shop in the designer boutiques along
the elegant Via Condotti. (Meals included BB-Buffet Breakfast
and D at a local restaurant)
Day
4 Rome - Siena - Florence - Sightseeing. Enjoy a short drive
this morning past the hilltop towns of the Latium and the Umbria.
We continue into the hills of Tuscany to visit medieval Siena, famous
for its Palio horse-race. There is time to have lunch in one of
the cafés on the fan-shaped Piazza del Campo before continuing
on to Florence. En route we can stop at the outlet stores of many
famous Italian designers for shopping. In Florence, sightseeing
shows us the Piazza della Signoria, the Cathedral and Holy Cross
Church. (BB D)

Day
5 Florence. You'll witness a demonstration of Florentine craftsmanship
in the Santa Croce District. We will then visit the Accademia where
many famous works of art are displayed including the world famous
statue of David by Michelangelo. Then there's free time to shop
and/or sightsee as your group chooses. Tonight the group can explore
the historic quarter of Florence and perhaps seek out some delicious
Tuscan cuisine. (BB)
Day
6 Florence - Verona - Venice (Mestre). We enjoy a leisurely
drive to Verona, Shakespeare's city of Romeo and Juliet as well
as the 'Two Gentlemen'. Here an orientation tour will show us the
Roman arena, the medieval town and for the romantics, the balcony
of Juliet. Then it's but a short drive to magical Venice for our
two-night stay. (BB D)

Day
7 Venice sightseeing. The perfect way to absorb this city's
unique sights and sounds is on an included canal cruise to St. Mark's
Square. We will see the Byzantine Basilica and magnificent Doges'
Palace before a demonstration of glass-blowing at a Murano glass
factory. Then your group has the option to explore Venice as you
wish and perhaps to discover some of the other islands in the lagoon
and/or seek out a fresh seafood lunch in one of the typical restaurants.

Day
8 Venice (Mestre) - Assisi. Enjoy a morning drive along the
Adriatic Coast to the Roman town of Ravenna. Here we'll visit the
sixth century Church of St. Apollinaris in Classe with its incredible
Byzantine mosaics. Then on to mystical Assisi, perched on Mount
Subasio and overlooking a peaceful Umbrian landscape. Our sightseeing
tour includes a guided tour of the Basilica of St. Francis, famous
for its fresco paintings depicting the life of this much-loved saint.
You can then wander the medieval streets of town and perhaps climb
to the castle tower overlooking the town and valley. (BB D)

Day
9 Assisi - Sorrento. An early start today as we head towards
the 'Campania Felix', much loved by the Romans, as is today's included
highlight to the Isle of Capri. We board our ferry and sail across
the Bay of Naples to the island of the Emperor Tiberius. We will
have time to wander and discover the beauty of this favoured Italian
holiday spot. Later, we return to the beautiful cliff-side city
of Sorrento for the night. (BB D)
Day
10 Sorrento - Rome. This morning's exciting highlight is a visit
to the excavations at Pompeii. Here our local guide will bring to
life the day-to-day existence of the early Romans as we explore
the city which was preserved by the ash from the eruption of Vesuvius
in 79 AD. Then we head back to Rome for the last night of our Italian
Odyssey. Our group will close this day and our touring by gathering
for a farewell dinner in this historic and romantic city. (BB

11 Rome - Canada. Transfer to the airport for your return flight
to Canada. (BB)
